Bookshop.org is an online book marketplace whose stated mission is to help support independent, local bookstores.
It was launched in January 2020 by Andy Hunter.
It's a certified B Corporation — meaning it’s mission-driven, not just profit-driven, and committed to social/ethical goals.
The idea is you can shop for books online like you would at Amazon — but a significant portion of the money goes to local bookstores instead of a giant multinational!
Librofm is an audiobook retailer and app (you can buy and listen to audiobooks).
Based in Seattle, Washington and operating in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
You choose a local independent bookstore when you buy, and part of the money from your purchase goes to that bookstore.
It’s run as a social purpose corporation — meaning they focus on a mission (supporting indie bookstores), not just profit.
Basically, if Amazon’s Audible is the big corporate route, Libro.fm is the indie-supporting alternative.
A Year in the Outback with Bill Earl Saturday January 17, 2026 at 5pm
Have you wondered what the Australian Outback is really like. This is your chance to get a taste.
Bill decided to tour and camp through a lot of Australia. He purchased a Land Cruiser and spent almost a year touring and camping. From the cities and coast of New South Wales and Queensland to the most isolated parts of the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
I will describe the “process”…Purchasing the car, outfitting, and touring. We’ll cover the how and why of camping and overlanding Australia. We’ll visit a bit of the Australian cities but focus on the beauty and isolation of the Outback.
